Urmston Sports Club on Moorside Road is one of Trafford's proper community venues — a multi-sport members' club whose function room, looking out over the cricket ground, takes up to 120 with a private bar, a kitchen and a stage end. There's a smaller meeting room upstairs, outside space for marquees and tipis, and every function booked here helps keep the club running.

The mirror earns its place along the wall clear of the bar and the stage, red carpet leading to it, so the queue never crosses the dance floor or the drinks run. The window side over the cricket ground gives daytime parties proper natural light. For tipi and marquee dos the compact selfie pod is the honest recommendation, and the audio guest book — a vintage telephone on a side table — collects the messages nobody says out loud, with every recording kept.
