The Black Friar stands on Blackfriars Road, on the Salford side of the river a few minutes' walk from Manchester city centre — a Grade II-listed Victorian pub that stood derelict for over fifteen years before being restored and reopened in 2021. It's now one of the area's best-loved wedding and events houses: an approved premises for civil ceremonies hosting weddings from 10 to 250 guests, with six distinct spaces — the Glass Room for 80, the Garden for 170, The Tavern, The Sanctuary, The Choir's Loft and The Cabins — event menus from the head chef, and styling done in-house.

We've worked a wedding at The Black Friar, so we know how the building celebrates: the Glass Room filling with light, the garden taking the drinks reception, and the evening finding its voice under that listed roof.

The mirror earns its keep in the Glass Room, set along a wall clear of the service run with the red carpet leading to it. The snugger rooms suit the compact selfie pod, a full-venue wedding runs every space at once — and so do we — and the audio guest book collects the quiet messages somewhere away from the music.
