The Park Royal sits in its own grounds at Stretton, just outside Warrington, and started life as a vicarage back in 1831. Today it is a hotel and spa under The QHotels Collection, with fifteen event spaces under one roof, an ELEMIS Spa, a health club and pool, and 146 bedrooms — a combination that lets an event here run from a morning conference straight through to a late night without anyone leaving the building.

We have worked The Park Royal three times over: a large corporate event, a wedding and a birthday party. Three very different days in the same building, which is the best way we know to learn a venue properly — the run from the car park to the conference and banqueting entrance, the way the Royal Suite changes once the tables go back, and how quickly a room here finds the mirror.

The Royal Suite is the one that carries scale, taking up to 400 guests or 260 for a wedding across 24.2m by 12.1m with a full 4m ceiling. That headroom is unusually generous for a banqueting room and it lets the magic mirror stand at full height with room to spare. We set it along a wall near the dance floor with the red carpet leading in, so the queue never crosses the floor. Balmoral, Buckingham and Highgrove combined takes 240 and splits on an air wall, which makes it the natural home for a conference dinner or an awards-style evening — a print selfie pod near the bar keeps working through the speeches and sends every guest home holding something.

The Garden Suite is the more intimate room at 140 for an event or 100 for a wedding, licensed for civil ceremonies and with its own private bar. Its 2.8m ceiling is comfortably fine for everything we bring. It sits on the lower ground floor, so we simply flag it at booking and agree the lift route in advance. Tatton and Walton up on the first floor are boardroom scale at 2.3m, where the digital selfie pod is the right call — a five-foot square that never dominates a room where people are mostly talking.

Access here is genuinely supplier-friendly. There are 400 free parking spaces, a separate conference and banqueting entrance, a turning circle with a dropped kerb for drop-off, and a level paved route through automatic doors with no steps or slopes on the main ground-floor corridors. Outside, 2.5 acres of grounds and a 200m by 110m Event Field give our photographers proper range without anyone travelling, and we are CAA-licensed for aerial work — Warrington sits between Liverpool and Manchester, so we check the class of airspace and the day's notices and arrange any permission needed well in advance.
