The Cartford Inn sits on the bank of the River Wyre at Little Eccleston, right beside the historic Cartford Bridge. It is a riverside inn with rooms, an award-winning restaurant holding two AA Rosettes, and a real food-and-drink identity that runs through everything they do — from afternoon tea and seasonal set menus to regular live music nights in the bar. For us it is a short drive along the A586 from our base in Poulton-le-Fylde, which makes it one of the closest venues on our list.

Private celebrations at The Cartford happen in the River House. It is a separate building a few steps from the main inn, with exposed brick, folding glass doors and its own terrace looking out over the Wyre, and it has its own team, kitchen and bar access. It takes between twelve and thirty guests, and their corporate day delegate packages run to a maximum of thirty delegates. That intimacy is the whole point of the room, and it is exactly what shapes how we would work in it.

In a room for twelve to thirty, the audio guest book is the piece we would lead with. It is a vintage telephone on a side table with no real footprint at all, and by the end of the night you have every voice in the room recorded and kept. Alongside it, our digital or print selfie pod needs only a 5ft square, so it tucks into a corner rather than taking a slice of the floor. Our magic mirror, with its full red-carpet entrance, is the option for a larger celebration or a full property buyout — and we would always talk you through the space honestly before suggesting the biggest thing we own.

The River House hosts birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, family gatherings, Christmas celebrations, corporate days and wakes. The Cartford are clear that they are not a traditional wedding venue and host only smaller, intimate wedding parties, so we write for celebrations here rather than weddings. For memorial gatherings we will happily bring the audio guest book on its own: no flashes, no props, nothing loud, just a quiet phone where people can leave the family a spoken message.

Those folding glass doors and the riverside terrace are a genuine gift for photography, with guests drifting outside for portraits without ever leaving the party. Little Eccleston also sits well clear of both the Blackpool and Warton airspace zones, which makes aerial film here unusually straightforward — the inn on the riverbank, Cartford Bridge and the Wyre curving away across the fields. We are CAA-licensed and fully insured, and we still check the day's airspace notices before every flight.
