Blackpool Park Golf Club is the members' club on Stanley Park's North Park Drive — the home of golf on the Fylde Coast since 1925, its course laid out by Dr Alister MacKenzie, who went on to design Augusta National. The newly renovated clubhouse holds up to 120 for functions, with a full bar, a rooftop terrace overlooking the course, in-house catering, free parking at the door — and room hire is free for private occasions, members and non-members alike. Weddings, birthdays, wakes and corporate days all run here.

This is home turf for us: we're ten minutes away in Poulton-le-Fylde, and we've already filled the clubhouse for a summer birthday that ran to nearly five hundred photographs.

The mirror earns its place along the wall clear of the bar, red carpet leading to it, and the terrace gives golden-hour portraits over the course. Society and corporate golf days finish brilliantly with roaming photography and instant prints in the clubhouse. For wakes we bring the audio guest book alone if the family prefers — quiet, no flashes, and every recording kept.
