One Fine Day sits on Old Hall Street in the heart of Liverpool's commercial district, in a Grade II listed former cotton exchange and registry office. Its Event Space is a double-height room with the original grand pillars still standing, a private bar, a mezzanine lounge and its own entrance off the cobbled street. It is a genuinely flexible room, and it is one we have set up in before.

We have worked three events at One Fine Day, all in the same December run: a birthday and two further celebrations. That means we already know how the room fills, where a queue naturally wants to form, and how quickly a Liverpool crowd finds the mirror once the music starts. The height of the ceiling is the thing we would flag first — the magic mirror stands full-length in that space without ever looking like furniture.

One Fine Day is now officially licensed to hold legal wedding ceremonies, so vows and reception can happen under the same roof. We work around that turnaround rather than through it: setting up quietly while the room is being reset, so everything is tested and glowing by the time your guests walk back in. Nobody has to watch the kit being built.

Midweek, the same building runs as one of the city's better corporate rooms — awards evenings, company banquets, festive parties, away days, conferences and networking nights. For those we would usually recommend the print selfie pod, which needs barely five feet square and puts a branded print into every guest's hand, so your name leaves the building with them. There is already an in-house PA with a wireless microphone and a projector in the room, which makes speeches, slideshows and an on-the-night photo reel easy to slot in.

The audio guest book is the one we would push hardest here. A vintage telephone on a side table, no flashes, nothing loud, quietly collecting everything that never makes it into a speech. It sits beautifully alongside the room's own PA, and it works just as well at a wedding as it does at a retirement do or a company anniversary. And because the building is listed, everything we bring is free-standing — no fixings, nothing touching the walls, and we plan for the ground-floor Event Space rather than the mezzanine for anything heavy.
