The Mercure St Helens sits on Linkway West in the middle of St Helens, a short walk from the Saints' stadium — a town-centre hotel with 84 bedrooms, the 92 Restaurant, and two proper function rooms in the Chalon Suite and the Pyramid Suite that carry everything from intimate ceremonies to the biggest family weddings.

We worked a wedding here in June 2026, so the hotel is fresh knowledge for us rather than a venue we'd need to scout — the drive in off Linkway West, the quiet turnaround between the wedding breakfast and the evening, and where the party settles once the music starts.

The mirror earns its place along a wall near the dance floor, red carpet leading to it, set for the evening room once the tables are cleared and the party doubles. For daytime celebrations the compact selfie pod suits better, and the audio guest book — a vintage telephone on a side table away from the speakers — collects the messages that never get said on a microphone, played back over breakfast in the 92 the morning after. With 84 bedrooms upstairs, nobody's watching the clock for a taxi.
