The Marchon Club on Coach Road is Whitehaven's friendly club — a community hall whose Main Hall seats up to 250 on exclusive hire, with bars in every room, a licence to 1am, a resident DJ, its own wedding dressing kit (arch, ceiling drapes, chair covers) and a big car park underneath. Weddings, engagements, christenings, retirements and charity nights all run here, and Fridays and Saturdays are kept free for private hire.
We've worked a full wedding at the Marchon — over four hundred photographs from one November day — so we know what this hall does when it's dressed.
The mirror earns its place along the Main Hall wall clear of the bar run, its glow part of the picture the club's own drapes and arch set; the compact pod suits afternoon dos in the lounge; and the audio guest book collects the messages nobody says out loud, with every recording kept.
