Why we don't send attended hires out on NYE

New Year's Eve is one night where our normal attended hires — an equipment van, a dedicated attendant, someone on site all evening — don't make sense for us or for you. Our team celebrates NYE too, and running a full attended booth or magic mirror hire on the busiest, latest, most unpredictable night of the year isn't something we do. Instead, NYE is drop-off hire only: we deliver the equipment, you run the party yourselves, and we collect it afterwards.

It's a different model to the rest of December, and deliberately so. The rest of our December calendar is full of attended Christmas party hires with a team member on site all evening, but New Year's Eve works better as a self-service option that fits around whatever you and your guests actually end up doing at midnight.

How the drop-off pod works

The selfie pod is a compact, self-contained unit that guests can use themselves without any instruction — press, pose, done, with digital sharing so photos land straight on people's phones rather than needing a printer running unattended all night. We drop it off before the party starts, you set it wherever suits the room, and we collect it the next day. There's no attendant needed and no equipment to manage beyond plugging it in.

Because there's no attendant on site, it suits a smaller, more relaxed gathering better than a large corporate crowd — think a living room full of friends and family rather than a hundred-guest works do. Guests use it exactly like any other selfie pod: step in, take the photo, and it's shared digitally straight away, so nobody's relying on a printer running unsupervised at 1am.

One unit, premium rate, first come first served

Because it's a single night with huge demand and no attended cover, we only have one selfie pod available for New Year's Eve drop-off hire, and it's priced at a premium compared with our usual rates. There's no way around booking early here — it's genuinely first come, first served, and the one unit tends to go quickly once December gets underway. If you've got a house party, a small gathering with friends or a low-key family NYE planned, this is the option that actually fits the night.

Because it's a single unit covering the whole of our coverage area — Lancashire and the North West, within around 60 miles of our Poulton-le-Fylde base — we can't hold it provisionally for long once someone else enquires. If NYE is the plan, treat it as the first booking to make, well ahead of anything else on the party list.

Add an audio guest book

Alongside the selfie pod, our audio guest books are also available for NYE drop-off hire — a simple recording station where guests leave a short voice message as the clock ticks towards midnight. It's a nice pairing with the selfie pod: photos for the moment, a voice recording for the sentiment, and both are available without an attendant on site. Standard audio guest books start from £129, or £139 for the neon version if you want something that fits a NYE setup a bit better.

Both units are entirely self-service, so there's nothing to learn on the night beyond showing guests where they are. Set the selfie pod near where people naturally gather and the audio guest book somewhere slightly quieter, and both will get used steadily through the evening without anyone needing to prompt guests to try them.

How to enquire

Because there's only one selfie pod for the whole of New Year's Eve, the best thing to do is get in touch as early as possible once your plans are firm. We'll confirm availability, talk through drop-off and collection timings, and take a deposit to hold the unit — the balance is due two weeks before the event, same as any other booking.

Tell us roughly what time you'd like the pod dropped off and when you'd like it collected the next day, along with a rough idea of numbers, and we'll take it from there. Because it's a drop-off hire rather than an attended one, there's no need to plan around a set arrival window during the party itself — just a delivery slot beforehand and a collection slot afterwards.
